Present Position

Actuarial Analyst

Responsibilities

Provides property and casualty, accident and health, and life insurance actuarial, technical, and auditing services. Works with the Consulting Actuaries in conducting feasibility, reserve, and ratemaking analyses for insurance entities and self-insured groups; and in conducting actuarial analyses for state insurance departments (risk-focused actuarial examinations, rate filing analyses, captive and risk retention group application reviews, and receivership evaluations). Responsibilities include gathering, reconciling, auditing, and analyzing loss and loss adjustment expense data; developing spreadsheets; testing reserve factors; researching underlying issues; performing analytic procedures; completing actuarial calculations and routine reviews; technically reviewing actuarial spreadsheets; and preparing actuarial exhibits, workpapers, reports, and opinions.

Experience

Began working for Taylor-Walker on July 19, 2021. Provides actuarial assistance during feasibility, reserve, and funding analyses for our industry clientele; and during risk-focused actuarial examinations, rate filing analyses, and captive application reviews for state insurance regulators.

Previously, Mr. Phillips was employed as a delivery driver, math tutor, peer mentor, and as a caregiver. He is able to assess needs, and to build and maintain excellent relationships with customers. He regularly assisted others, giving advice on ways to succeed and overcome challenges.

Mr. Phillips is proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and in the R and Python programming languages. Using R-studio, Mr. Phillips developed predictions by constructing ARIMA models, and performed non-parametric statistical analyses. He also completed basic courses on SQL.

Mr. Phillips has passed the following actuarial examinations: Probability and Financial Mathematics.
