Present Position

Senior Actuarial Analyst


Provides property and casualty actuarial, technical, and auditing services. Works with the Consulting Actuaries in conducting feasibility, reserve, and funding analyses for insurance entities and self-insured groups; and in conducting actuarial analyses for state insurance departments (risk-focused and other statutory actuarial examinations, and captive and risk retention group application reviews). Responsibilities include gathering, reconciling, auditing, and analyzing loss and loss adjustment expense data; developing spreadsheets; researching underlying issues; performing analytic procedures; completing actuarial calculations and routine reviews; technically reviewing actuarial spreadsheets; and preparing actuarial exhibits, workpapers, reports, and opinions. Also assists in project management and working with the Actuarial Analysts.


Began working for Taylor-Walker in November 2021.

Previously, Mr. Larson was employed by Nationwide Insurance for 11.5 years. He began as a Pricing Specialist, working with both personal and commercial lines. As part of his responsibilities, he created re-rating and rate impact templates, adjusted a personal auto rating plan to meet California legislation requirements, and created rate upload templates. He subsequently worked as a Pricing Manager over Nonstandard Auto. In this position, he rebuilt rate review impact templates and standardized loss ratio and impact reports for product management partners; and managed personal auto and commercial auto rate reviews.

Mr. Larson also worked for 2.5 years as a Pricing Analyst in commercial lines for Grange Insurance. He was able to improve analytic processes for underwriters, and he led or assisted in pricing reviews for every commercial line of business.

Early in his career, Mr. Larson worked for two years as an University Instructor teaching Elementary Business Statistics and Intermediate to College Algebra.

Mr. Larson is proficient in Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications. He has also worked with SAS, utilizing SQL commands for data retrieval and manipulation.

Mr. Larson has passed Casualty Actuarial Society Exams 1 – 5 and 7.
